Editorial Policy

The standards we apply to content on SindhiKeyboardOnline.me — accuracy, sourcing, corrections, and what we will and will not publish.

Last updated: January 2025

Our Editorial Purpose

SindhiKeyboardOnline.me is primarily a tool site — its main function is to provide working keyboard tools, not to publish journalism or opinion. However, every keyboard page includes substantive written content covering language history, script analysis, Unicode implementation, and typing guidance. This content is held to the same standards of accuracy and usefulness that we would apply to any published reference material.

We write for readers who want to understand what they are using, not to generate search engine traffic at the expense of substance. Every article on this Site should leave a reader better informed than they were before reading it.

Accuracy Standards

Unicode and Technical Claims

When we state a specific Unicode code point for a character — for example, that Urdu ے is U+06D2 — we have verified that code point against the Unicode Character Database maintained at unicode.org. We do not publish Unicode assignments from memory or inference. If a code point is disputed or has been changed between Unicode versions, we note that context.

Linguistic and Historical Claims

Claims about language history, phonology, or the relationship between scripts are based on publicly available academic and reference sources, including:

  • Unicode Standard documentation and character notes
  • Established linguistic reference works on the languages covered
  • Language authorities and government language bodies where their publications are publicly available
  • Academic linguistics publications where relevant

We do not publish invented statistics about speaker counts, language use, or digital adoption. When we cite figures (such as approximate speaker populations), they are drawn from sources such as Ethnologue, UNESCO language resources, or government census data, and we acknowledge that such figures are estimates with natural uncertainty.

What We Avoid

We do not publish the following types of content on this Site:

  • Invented or unverifiable statistics presented as facts
  • Content that misrepresents a language's script, history, or speakers
  • Politically charged language characterisations that would be contested by speakers of the language in question
  • Content generated primarily for search engine placement rather than reader value
  • Advertorial content presented as independent editorial opinion

Independence from Advertising

This Site displays advertising through Google AdSense. Advertising revenue does not influence our editorial decisions. The keyboard layouts, article content, and technical choices are made independently of advertisers. We do not accept sponsored placements within editorial content, and we do not write or alter content at the request of advertisers.

If we were ever to publish sponsored content of any kind, it would be clearly labelled as such and separated visually from editorial content. As of the date on this policy, we have not published any sponsored content.

Corrections Policy

We correct errors promptly when they are identified. Our process:

  • Minor corrections (typos, formatting errors, broken links): corrected without a formal notice.
  • Factual corrections (incorrect Unicode code point, incorrect language claim, incorrect historical date): corrected and noted at the bottom of the relevant page with the nature of the correction and the date it was made.
  • Significant corrections (errors that substantially change the meaning or accuracy of an article): corrected, noted prominently, and the "Last updated" date on the page revised.

We do not silently delete accurate content that is inconvenient or that has generated complaints. Corrections are made only where there is a genuine error.

To report an error, use the Contact page and select "Content correction" as the subject. Please include the URL of the page containing the error and a description of what you believe is incorrect.

Content Scope

SindhiKeyboardOnline.me covers topics directly relevant to its tools and the languages they support:

  • Sindhi, Urdu, Pashto, Arabic, and Persian scripts and language
  • Unicode implementation for Arabic-script languages
  • Typing and keyboard access for right-to-left scripts
  • Digital preservation and accessibility of minority languages
  • Practical guidance for using keyboard tools in specific contexts

We do not publish content on unrelated topics to inflate page counts. Every page on this Site should be directly useful to someone who is trying to type in one of our supported languages.

Future Blog Content

We plan to expand this Site with a blog covering deeper topics in the following categories:

  • Sindhi Language — history, dialects, literature, and digital preservation
  • Typing Guides — step-by-step guides for specific use cases (Sindhi in Google Docs, Arabic in Microsoft Word, etc.)
  • Unicode Guides — explainers on specific Unicode topics relevant to Arabic-script languages
  • Fonts — reviews and guides for Arabic-script fonts and where to find them
  • Digital Writing — broader guides for digital writing in Sindhi and related languages

All future blog content will be held to the same accuracy and independence standards described in this policy.
